Generally,
distance learning means any teaching or learning situation that involves the
teacher and student being physically separated.

Online Learning for Students |
|
Taking
distance courses is different from taking face-to-face classes.
You
need to know the skills involved in taking online classes and the
make-up of such classes. Distance courses are not appropriate for many students.
Why?
-
You must be
self-directed, rather than teacher directed.
-
You must be a
critical thinker, which means being able to dig down through the surface
of a situation in order to ask such questions as "who, what, why, when,
where, how, so what."
-
You must be able to answer those
questions and many others.
-
In addition, you must be willing to investigate and
research more that the in-class student.
-
In many ways, distance
classes are harder than in-class courses.
