| Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) makes copies of a
DNA segment. RFLP mapping (restriction fragment length polymporphism)
detects patterns in DNA that can indicate the presence of a gene for
a trait. Both PCR and RFLP analysis can be used in DNA fingerprinting for genealogical studies and forensics. |
