Benefits
It is the intent of Owensboro Community and Technical College to provide a benefits program with a broad foundation upon which employees can build for the security and well-being of their families. The college has two sets of benefits for the various employee groups. Those employees governed by the Kentucky Community and Technical College System and the State policies and procedures are covered by the KCTCS benefits package, which include several state government options. Those employees governed by the University of Kentucky policies and procedures are covered by the UK benefits package. Medical
Insurance KCTCS participates in the state health insurance
plan. KCTCS provides a contribution towards the plan of coverage.
Employees may select from various coverage levels and plan levels. For those employees participating in the UK benefits package,
KCTCS provides a contribution towards the plan of coverage. Employees may
select from various coverage levels and plan levels. KCTCS provides $20,000 of Life Insurance and
Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) coverage for eligible employees
under KCTCS, 18A and 151B Personnel systems. Optional Life and AD&D coverage
are available. University of Kentucky (UK) policies/benefits receive
$10,000 of basic life. Optional AD&D is available. KCTCS, 18A, 151B, and KCTCS employees still under the
University of Kentucky (UK) policies/benefits are all covered under the State
Workers Compensation plan. KCTCS provides a Long-Term Disability plan for
regular full-time KCTCS employees that are enrolled in a Defined Contribution
403 (b) Plan (matching contributions). KCTCS employees still under the University of Kentucky (UK)
policies/benefits have Long-Term Disability coverage through the UK Benefits
Plan. KCTCS employees that participate in KTRS/KERS have disability retirement benefits available through their retirement system. KCTCS offers a choice of two types of retirement
plans: Defined Benefit Plan or Defined Contribution. Please choose from the
following to find out more information. Offered to 18A, 151B and employees under KCTCS
policies/benefits. Not available to KCTCS employees still under the
University of Kentucky benefits/policies. Membership in KTRS may be
mandatory, allowed or not allowed depending upon the position occupied. 403(b) Plans available to employees under KCTCS
benefits/policy: 403(b) Plans available to KCTCS employees still under the
University of Kentucky benefits/policies: Supplemental Retirement Contribution Employees that receive a paycheck on a regular
bases (i.e. full-time, part-time, permanent part-time) may request an MEA
calculation in order to determine contribution limits. Once limits are defined,
the employees can have (unmatched) pre-tax contributions deducted from their
paycheck and sent to Aetna, American Century, Fidelity or TIAA-CREF (Dependent
upon policy/benefit set. See Retirement Plans above.) Please note:
Employees are limited to choosing either a Supplemental 403(b) Retirement
Contribution or Deferred Compensation, but not both. Deferred Compensation Authority Employees that receive a regular paycheck may
contact KY Public Deferred Compensation Authority in order to have (unmatched)
contributions deducted from their paycheck. Eligible KCTCS, 18A, and 15B employees
participate in Commonwealth Choice. KCTCS employees still under the University of Kentucky (UK)
policies/benefits are eligible to participate in the CATSelect program offered
through the UK benefits program. Regular full-time KCTCS, 18A, 151B, and KCTCS employees still
under the University of Kentucky policies/benefits are eligible for tuition
defrayal. Employee Spouse and Dependent Tuition Waiver Dependents of regular full-time KCTCS employees governed by
KCTCS policies/benefits are eligible for tuition
defrayal. Regular full-time KCTCS, 18A, 151B and KCTCS employees still
under the University of Kentucky (UK) policies/benefits employees are eligible
for voluntary participation in the program. Staff Sick Leave Sharing Program Regular full-time KCTCS, 18A, 151B and KCTCS employees still
under the University of Kentucky (UK) policies/benefits employees are eligible
for participation in the program. |
