APA FORMAT ALL PAPERS MUST HAVE AN APA REFERENCE OR CITATION PAGE ALL PAPERS MUST BE CITED IN THE BODY OF THE PAPER for more information go to http://www.liu.edu/cwis/cwp/library/workshop/citama.htm Since I include these instructions in your handouts I will take at least 10 to 15 points for any paper that does not follow them How to Cite in the Body of the Paper · In the body of the paper a citation is placed at the end of a statement. The citation includes the author or author’s last name and the year of publication ONLY. DO NOT ADD the title, the page number or any other information i.e (Smith 2007) or (Smith and Jones 2007) the term et.al means “and others” and can also be used to signify other authors. (Smith, et al 2007) · Websites can be cited by using the URL address. (www.cancercures) simplify the address do not list (www.cancercures.abc.sst.xxx.xxx.xx.) · DO NOT QUOTE BY SAYING according to Dr. Smith of the Med Center ”…….” in the paper. Just cite at the end of the passage (Smith 2007).
Where to Cite in the paper (This is in addition to using a reference page) 1. At the end of all quotes (use as few quotes as possible) 2. After you have listed numbers. i.e. 25% of the population….(Smith 2007) 3. All general information. You pulled the information from somewhere cite where you found it. You do not have to cite every sentence but make sure that every paragraph has a citation. How to Create a Reference Page at the End of the Paper Journal: author(s), (year) article title, journal,, volume, page number. (if it is from an Internet Database include date retrieved and the name of the database) Book: author(s) (or editors) (year) title, city, publisher Internet: author’s name, title. Available at: Internet address. Accessed on date. Wikipedia and WebMd are NOT ACCEPTABLE SOURCES. DO NOT USE THEM THEY SHOULD NEVER BE SEEN ON A REFERENCE PAGE Ebsco, Proquest, CQ Researcher, etc are search engines. It is like including Google or Yahoo in a reference. They are not the journal that the article was published in. Citing the journal is more important than citing the search engine. Remember if your paper has too many quotes that is plagiarism, even if the quotes are properly cited. As a rule there should be no more than 2 short quotes per page. I know that the author of the paper can write I am interested in your writing skills. More examples Journal or Magazine Article The Next Generation. Studies in Popular Culture, 13(2), 53-65.
