Exercise 9

Pages 67-73 (74).  Turn in pages 71-74

Answer all questions including the critical thinking question

YOU MUST USE COLORED PENCILS WHEN DRAWING TISSUES

  1. Look at the following list of slides. You can share slides so that you do not have to focus each of these.

(i.e. 4 people work together, each one picks a slide and you rotate around microscopes.  However each person has to have a microscope)

You must include the following labels for the following structures (see page 72-73)

areolar tissue

adipose tissue

reticular connective tissue

regular dense connective

elastic connective tissue

fibroblast cell

elastic fibers

collagen fibers

fat storage area

nucleus

white blood cell

collagen fibers

fibroblast

collagen fibers

elastic fibers

collagen fibers

hyaline cartilage

elastic cartilage

fibrocartilage

bone

blood

lacuna

condrocyte cell

extracellular matrix

lacuna

condrocyte cell

elastic fibers

extracellular matrix

lacuna

condrocyte cell

collagen fibers

osteon

central canal

Extracellular matrix

Red blood cell

2.      Draw pictures of all of these tissues listed on pages 72-73.  Use the images on pages 68-69 to guide you.  Higher magnification is needed to be able to identify these tissues. Fill in the 2 lines beneath the graphic.  Arrows are required. (Points will be removed for graphics that are not labeled and are not in colored pencil)

3.      For the practical be able to:

Identify the tissues in the above table

Identify generally where they are found

Identify generally where they are found

Describe what they do.

Note:  There is a difference between elastic tissue and elastic cartilage. Check your slide.
